Little Bunny Froo Froo

We had a wonderful first Easter with Sophia and both of our families. Church, food, egg hunt, and family time are a staple of Easter and we did them all!

Sophia was almost 8 months old this Easter. She is growing so fast. How does time go by at lightening speed? She is crawling all over the place, standing up, and moving from one piece of furniture to another. She loves to clap, dance, and wave. Her favorite games are: exploring the house and playing crawling tag! I swear she says mama and dada, but it could just be gibber jabber. I love her little "alien talk". I know blah blah blah won't be as cute when she's a teenager! It's amazing how much change has taken place; in her growth, cognitive development, emotional development, sleep, play, and feeding schedule.

Having children really does change everything! In a wonderful, messy, crazy, joyful, blissful way!

I'm an Aunt!

We welcomed little Aubree Kay Moore to the family on Saturday March 28th! She weighed 7lbs 9oz and was 19 inches long. I'm glad that I now know the joy of being an aunt to a precious baby girl. For a newborn she is very alert and stays up for long stretches. She is a squirmy little thing and I swear she already smiles. It is amazing to see her and Mandy interact. She knows her momma and will just stare at her while she talks. I am so excited the next generation is starting to grow. Two grand kids down and more to come.

Temperament Study

I was reading that research shows a child’s temperament is pretty much the same from birth. I want to track Sophia with these same questions during different stages of her life. I think it is so interesting that we get to know these little spirits, who they are, what they like, what they may become, from birth. Sophia is an action adventurer according to the personality test. I wonder what the rest of my kids will be like! Here is Sophia at close to 8 months.

Activity level: Is he very active, not so active, or somewhere in between? Active
Rhythmicity: Is she regular or irregular in regards to her basic biological functions? Irregular
Approach-withdrawal: Does she seem to enjoy new situations or is she slow-to-warm-up? Slow to warm up some people. For others she is great.
Adaptability: How rapidly does the novelty of a new situation or person wear off? After she warms up she is good 
Intensity of reaction: When he is hungry, how intense are his wails? Mild
Quality of mood: Does she seem generally negative or positive? Positive: as long as she gets what she wants, she is happy!
Distractibility: How easily does a new activity disrupt one that's been ongoing? She is distracted very easily!
Persistence: What's the extent to which an activity, once undertaken, is maintained? She is very determined and focused.
Level of sensitivity: How intense does a sensory stimulus (lights, noise, or activity) need to be for your child to respond? She has eagle ears and responds to the slightest noise or activity. She is very curious and aware of the world around her. She wants to touch and see everything in her world. She’d rather play than eat or sleep!

I think Sophia will be a very strong and determined woman. She will face challenges head on and stop at nothing to accomplish her goals. I think she may have difficulty accepting change. I am excited about what Sophia will bring to our family and the world!
